economic factors become entangled with techniques which are not firmly based
in science, controversies are certain to exist. This program addresses some
of the common myths that exist in the teaching of occlusion today, and why
some techniques appear “to work” in spite of clear scientific evidence.
Although Dr. Tanaka and others have found that scientific evidence in this
field is elusive, for now, the ultimate requirement for the clinician may
be, “what works clinically and experiences long term success with the least
amount of harm to the patient.”
Although the search for “evidence” in the field of “Occlusion” often leads
us back to the basic sciences of anatomy and neurophysiology, it is as
Hippocrates stated, “There can only be one correct diagnosis, but there can
be many treatments for that diagnosis. |
